createMyCards is an online system that makes custom cards for various occasions accessible to anyone with a few minutes and a web browser at a much lower cost. Over the past several years while living in Houston, Texas we worked with commercial printers to improve the efficiency and productivity of their operation. In 2008, after almost 12 years in Texas, we moved home to Ireland to the town of Ashbourne, Co. Meath, bringing along the technology that we had developed during that period ... oh and a family too! In working with print service providers and with their customers we have learned a lot about commercial print.

One of the things we noticed was that the process of buying customized printed materials requires a lot of knowledge of how commercial printing works. Like any industry, printing has its own jargon and its own assumptions about what the customer knows and understands. This means that to buy custom print from a commercial printer, you either learn all about printing; and buy several hundred or thousands of euros worth of design software; or hire a designer who knows all about printing.  In either case this adds a lot to the cost of the custom product not to mention weeks of delay. Then, over the course of several orders, learning from mistakes and miscommunications, you finally get good at ordering what you want and getting something that looks like it!

There had to be an easier way. And now there is!

createMyCards provides a series of designs for various occasions, that you customize online in your web browser. You can upload your own digital images into many of the designs, and customize a lot of the text on all of them. So in a matter of minutes, without a designer, without expensive design software, you have a custom card with exactly your message. From there it is basically like any good web store. You put your card into the basket and either keep shopping or checkout. Once you check out even more automation takes over and your order shows up, in short order!
