Questions & Answers

Please ensure that you check the image resolution by reviewing the PDF. If you zoom in to at least 200% the picture should look sharp. If it doesn't look sharp at 200% zoom it is likely that YOU WILL NOT BE HAPPY with the resulting printed cards. If a photo looks dark on your screen it will likely be even darker when printed - use a brighter photo.

EVERYTHING YOU SEE ON THE PROOF WILL BE ON THE FINISHED CARD. IF YOU DON'T WANT IT ON THE CARD DELETE IT AND PRESS "CREATE CARD" AGAIN!

Don't forget to check the back too! Use the 3D Page Viewer or the PDF preview! If you see only 2 pages then you're looking at a postcard. There will NOT be any extra pages automatically added, the preview shows every "page" of your card.
There is a detailed explanation of our return policy in our terms and conditions.
The really short version is check your online proof carefully before ordering! Everything in our production facility is extremely automated and we can't (not won't but really can't) change anything about your order once it has been placed.
In about 4 to 6 business days after you place your order. So if you order on Wednesday on average you'll have them by the following Wednesday as the weekend doesn't count. If Monday is a bank holiday then you'll have them about a day later. They may get there earlier, but don't count on it if you're under time pressure.
Why a range of several days? We don't print every day. We batch the orders up and our printer works on them together. This makes life easier for the printer and in return we are a pain about quality. We insist that they get it 100% right every time. Sometimes that causes a slight delay, but we prefer that your cards make you happy when they arrive.

Colour Matching

is a complex area about which reams have been written. The long and short of it is there is no way that the colour you see on screen will be exactly the same as the colour that comes printed on your card! There are just too many variables.
  • There's the type of screen - flat panel or CRT?
  • There are color settings on your screen - you control brightness, contrast, colour temperature, RGB mix, etc.
  • The way your eye sees colour is completely reversed between screen and print (See links below if you really want to know!)
  • There's the colour of the paper - how white is white, which white?
  • Calibration of the press - which we do by the way - but to a standard, not to your screen!
  • And so on ...

The colour that we print on the card will be as close as possible to what you see on screen, but it will NOT be exactly the same.

Your screen's colour is additive http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Additive_color. So red, green and blue artificial light mixed. Equal R, G & B adds up to white.
Printed colour is subtractive http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subtractive_color. So light from your environment, bounced off the paper = white. Various amounts of Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black inks absorbs (subtracts) some of the light that bounces and you see rest. As you can imagine getting from one system to its polar opposite is not easy.

To reduce the opportunity for error, we purchase our envelopes in bundles of 25. Therefore all our order quantities are in multiples of 25. If you need to order a quantity that is a multiple of 25 but is not shown in the pricing page please contact us and we'll be happy to help.
Take an A4 sheet (photocopier, laser printer etc.) fold it in half (A5), then in half again the other way. So a quarter of an A4 is an A6.
This one is about the size of a letter ready to go in the envelope. So again start with A4; fold it in thirds the long way so it ends up about 100mm x 210mm. This is DL.
We don't use regular mail, we use a courier company. The driver will make contact with you if there is any problem locating your address; that's why you have to give us a mobile number during checkout.
In many of our designs you can type as much as you want into the fields and the system will shrink the text to fit the card. If you over do it, the text will get teeny! You have the control - use it wisely!
Yes. An online proof is automatically generated when you click on "Create Card". There are two icons on the page next to the preview of your card. One opens the card in a seperate browser that allows you to flip through the pages of your card. The other, with the PDF logo, opens the PDF again in a new window.
Please ensure that you check the image resolution by reviewing the PDF. If you zoom in to at least 200% the picture should look sharp. If it doesn't look sharp at 200% zoom it is likely that YOU WILL NOT BE HAPPY with the resulting printed cards.
We use Google Analytics to track whether our advertising is working. None of this affects how you used the site and no personal information is stored. When someone browses a couple of key pages on the site, the fact that someone did so is stored. This has already allowed us to tailor how the site works and improve some features.
You'll want to use a high resolution JPG. This will typically be the image file straight from your camera. If you resize the image in a graphics program like Photoshop, please make sure you are very careful not to enlarge it as this reduces the resolution of the image.
You're not likely to get good results if you use an image from a mobile phone camera. Some of the newer ones are high-resolution capable, check the phone's settings to ensure you are taking the highest res picture possible. This takes a lot of space on the memory card so it is usually not the default setting.
When you create your card make sure to preview the PDF; zoom in to 200% and check that the photo is not blurred. If it looks sharp at 200% zoom, then it will likely be OK. If not then you probably won't be happy so you should probably use a higher resolution picture.
